Re: Time Lapse and Star Trails on the Yorkshire Coast

Wow Gordon! Nice work!

The wide lens is amazing. Not to mention the beautiful beach. There's a lot of beauty in the transition from day to night. Great work on the transition, that's really hard to hit the exposure settings just right.

Re: Data Share

Hi Craig,

What kind of data are you looking for?

I might have something you can play around with.

Re: Imaging over a multiple nights.

What are you using to process the image? Photoshop?

I think the "black point" is too black and when you cut the black point off, you lose the fainter details.

Re: Imaging over a multiple nights.

Hi Randy, What were your exposure settings. . . etc? Looks like a good image, but, it looks like there could have been some data that was clipped. Depending on your exposure settings, I think you could have pulled a little more detail out of the image. If you want any suggestions, I'd be happy to he...

Re: Imaging over a multiple nights.

Hi Randy, For what it's worth, I often image the way you do. . . spend a couple of nights imaging, then take one calibration set for both nights. The one exception is darks. If you have regulated cooling on your camera, then you can build a library of darks. Here's what I typically will do, Image, F...

I know what you mean, I tried to process an image this weekend, a futile attempt. It's been so long I forgot the steps to dance.

Good work Zach!

Hi Greg,

Welcome to the forums. If I remember correctly, I don't think Elements will do curves. Does elements now support curves?

Re: when to do a meridian flip?

I don't have an automated flip in software. I think it takes a little practice and knowing what works for your setup. On my mount, I can use the width of my fist to "estimate" one hour. When I image during the night, I'm always up, checking it, but, I like sleep too. I'll estimate how many hours and...

Re: When do you have time to take darks?

Hi Randy, It's a different story when you have regulated cooling and you can set your chip temperature. To be honest, I have done both. With regulated Cooling and without. In your case you do not have regulated cooling, here's what I did in that scenario if it helps any. Take my darks during the twi...

Re: New Gear Too!

Congrats on new gear and your website looks nice. BTW, Google is dropping sites from their search engine if they aren't secure. Yes, MAI.com isn't secure either. Do I care? No. But, if you want your website to become available with a small chance of being served up, you may want to consider securing...

Re: I have data, but, not processed!

Yeah, I guess I should process this data, but, I haven't. Still so many other projects to do. I installed three new windows, finished the inside, painting, patch, etc... I did the outside stucco and sealant, but, need to paint trim on the outside.

I have data, but, not processed!

OK, I still go imaging whenever the skies are clear.

I've got a couple of data sets I haven't processed yet. Elephant Trunk (9/2018) and Witches Head (12/2018).

As you can see, I'm running behind schedule!
