Imaging over a multiple nights.

This weekend I am imaging the crescent nebula over Saturday and Sunday night. On Saturday when I was done i took my darks, Flats and Bias Frames. On Sunday I will do the same. My question is do you stack all the lights and calibration frames together? or seperate the stacking into each night then so...

Re: when to do a meridian flip?

Ok I just played around with Stellarium. I noticed a number on there HA/DEC and it has a time on it it goes to 24hr right at 2:20. I also turned on the azimuth grid and it crosses the 180 deg line at that time too. So i think i have it between those 2 things i should be able to figure out the time t...

Re: when to do a meridian flip?

Well, since M101 transits about 2:20 a.m. it would be around that time. What you need to know is how far past the meridian your mount can track before colliding with your gear. More than likely it’s measured in degrees. Our limits maybe something like more than 90 so maybe 110 or 120 before the ala...

when to do a meridian flip?

I know that you do one when your camera is about to hit the mount. But I am wondering how you can tell what time that will be. The other night i was imaging the Pinwheel and it was around 2:30 by the time I was able to use stellarium to do a flip. I would have liked to know that so i could get some ...

When do you have time to take darks?

I have recently got my setup sorted out and working good. last night i took 26 Light images at 15 min exposure at iso 800. that took over 6 1/2 hours. So to take dark frames at the same length and exposure would take, for 20 exposures 5 hours. i didn't have the time after my session before I had to ...

I am wondering if anyone knows of a good quality scope for its price point. would it hurt to go a bit bigger like ...

Cool size comparison site

http://www.blackwaterskies.co.uk/p/imagingtoolbox.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

has lots of cameras to choose from and telescopes. you can compare different cameras with the same telescope and the same target to see the field of view.
