Re: SVBONY H-Alpha 7nm 2" & Optolong 2"H-Alpha 7nm

Thank you for the reply , It seems that I shall have to save some more before buying the H-Alpha filter , pity unfortunately it is now impossible to image with my new neighbors insisting on leaving an unprotected 100 watt bulb burning all night about 15m from my pier.

Star Circle South Africa - LMC for Doug & Rudeviewer

Hi All

Jip the LMC it is ,this is one of my framing shots of 70 odd sec , not long enough for any detail but the LMC & SCM & NGC 104 = 47 Tucana are really prominent from this location and will always leave a smudge/smear on star trail images.
Thank you for the interest.

Star Circle South Africa - Farm Harmonie Noorsveld

Been a very long time since I have attempted any astro imaging , thought I would get my feet wet with some star circles. I am busy setting up a new observatory on a farm , as LP has made it practically impossible to image from home anymore. The LP in the images below comes from the town of Uitenhage...

Re: Eagle Nebula - color files

I normally have no issues with my images stacked in DSS , I do not have the original FTS file as this was lost when laptop got stolen. I do recall the image being very red with little contrast. That is the reason I was hoping that someone could provide me some narrow band color so as to experiment w...

Ra Drive for Skywatcher Synta EQ5 GOTO Unit

Hi Guys

Not sure if this is the correct section for this request.

I need a replacement RA drive for my Skywatcher Synscan GoTo EQ5 bolt on unit , I have given up on dealers ordering the replacement from the suppliers and the unit just never arrives.

Thanks Andre

Re: Sad Tale

Hi Andre, sorry to hear about losing your data. But more importantly I'm very glad that your daughter is safe . When all is said and done that is the most important part! Granted you will have to start from scratch again, but nothing wrong with that. Equipment and images can always be replaced. May...

Sad Tale

I unfortunately have a sad experience to share with you, perhaps some lessons may be learned from my families unfortunate experience. My daughter escorted me to a hospital where I was to undergo surgery. I thought I would use the down time to edit some images on my astro laptop ,due to lack of a sec...

Re: M83 The Southern Pinwheel

Well done ,nice and smooth image with loads of detail in the galaxy core, when I imaged this target with my 8" F5 Newtonian I used a 2x barlow for a closer peek and it worked reasonably well.
