Re: TRIPLE STACK, EON72, and NGC2264 First Light Report.

Doug, Yes, the WO TMB FF is only a field flattener. However, to my understanding, it is machined just to fit their 110 ad 132mm scopes. Futhermore, it does not allow the use of additional filters or FR (according to WO). I haven't tried to use it yet so I can't comment further. The MallinCam is grea...

Re: Post A Pic of your Telescope Rig!

I'll bet the weather is nice out there on a more regular basis. Viewing and imaging in Houston is pretty bad year round which is why I starting looking for something more remote. You have to go at least 100 miles to the west of Houston to have any chance of decent nights. Humidity is always a proble...

Re: Post A Pic of your Telescope Rig!

Yes, the observatory in the avatar is my newest equipment addition. I named it Redshift Observatory and had it built by Durango Skies Observatory Solutions this past fall. I have a pier mount installed which holds my WO 110 quite well. At home and star parties, I use a Vixen tripod. (seen in the pre...

Re: TRIPLE STACK, EON72, and NGC2264 First Light Report.

Hey Doug, I have the WO TMB FF but I have not used it for imaging yet. It is built for my scope and works very well (visually) but I have not tried it with the SSPro yet. Also, I cannot use a FR with it. Not a big problem with my 110mm but will still limit my wide-field imaging when using the FF. Th...

Re: Post A Pic of your Telescope Rig!

This is my Williams Optics 110mm f/7 refractor with a Stellarvue 70ED attached as a guide scope. The picture shows the Orion StarShoot Pro camera as well as the Orion StarShoot Autoguider attached and ready to shoot. They are mounted on a Vixen SXD, a lightweight but very stable mount. http://www.ge...

Re: TRIPLE STACK, EON72, and NGC2264 First Light Report.

Great shot, Doug! When I was doing quite a bit of video imaging and frame stacking, I ran into the elongated star problem a lot because I was imaging through a 15" f/4.5 dob. AIP4WIN has several tools, including one called "Fat Star Fixer", which may do what you want. But it's still just a 'one star...

Re: Learning to Use Photoshop Curves

Doug,
I'll admit that PS Curves are 'hit and miss' with me. Have you finished the step-by-step yet? Looking forward to it.

I liked this image in the Yahoo Group and it looks just as good here. Great Job, Doug.
