Re: IC-1318

With all that going on how do you get time to sleep? The images look great, how are your skies, dark or polluted?

Re: NGC7380 second attempt

Reprocessed the same images using a little less extreme values and some, for me, new processes. Please criticize with gusto, only way to learn. I am a retired mechanical engineer who used to work in the North Sea oil industry so I can take it.

Re: NGC7380 second attempt

Hi Sean
Would it be possible for you to send me the video Chris sendt you? I have been reading a little about the Color Mask script and it looks very interesting.

Re: NGC7380 second attempt

Hi Doug, I have taken some images with my Canon but these are the first with my Asi1600. Your criticism is welcome, I would rather have honest creative criticism than just a pat on the back so thank you and keep it coming. Thanks Sean, I’ll check out your suggestions. You’ll have to give me a little...

Re: NGC7380 second attempt

Thanks Doug
AS this is only my second image I have no others to check, but the weather report gives me hope for tomorrow. I will try something with more nebulosity, maybe as you suggested M42 if possible. Thank you for your comments, need all the help I can get.

NGC7380 second attempt

NGC7380 second attempt Clear night with just a little mist. Managed 20x2 min lum, 10x2 min each of red, green, blue and Ha. All 1x1 bin, unity gain (G: 139 O: 21). Guiding was ok but not great (have to work on that) and SGP work great (best AP software yet). I am feeling comfortable with the softwar...

Yes please, any help will be most welcome. I live in an area which has a lot of rain and clouds so I need to learn a lot theoretically and want all the help and information anyone can give me.
Thank you

Re: First ever image from my ZWO ASI1600 mono

Hi Zach
This was taken with my Edge 8 and reducer. I did not put any real work into procesing just wanted to see something come out of the stacking of my 10 exposures.

First ever image from my ZWO ASI1600 mono

First ever image from my ZWO ASI1600 mono. I had a couple of hours of almost “clear skies” so I set up for the first time this year. Found that the Wizard Nebula was in a clear part of the sky and managed 10x120s unity Lum images before the clouds set in. I know this is not even close to being a goo...

New equipment with wifes blessing.

Wife had enough of me complaining about polar alignment. I was initially impressed with SharpCad polar alignment but it was always a bit off and had to be repeated 3-4 times to get it “really good”, causing a couple of dirty words every time. Wife surprised me and asked if any new equipment would he...

Re: First outdoor test of AZ-EQ6 GT with Starsense

That's a good mount. People really like it. I believe the worm is driven by belts instead of gears so it should be quiet during slews. Do you know if it works with EQMOD or is it a true ascom mount? Yes I agree it feels like a very good mount, and it is quiet. I have been playing with it inside and...

First outdoor test of AZ-EQ6 GT with Starsense

Finally got out with my new setup, Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6 GT with Starsens for Sky-Watcher. I knew I only had a couple of hours before the clouds set in so I decided to do some testing. SS for Sky-Watcher is not quite the same as the one for Celestron, main difference is that the AZ-EQ6 GT does not have...

Re: Post A Pic of your Telescope Rig!

My setup with the new AZ-EQ6 GT, Edge HD8, Starsense for Sky-Watcher. Still waiting for the weather to clear, all we have had since I got the mount are storms, storms and more storms. I have been practicing with EQMOD software. I have connected to Stellarium and I am very ready to try SharpCad polar...

Re: Starsense for Sky-Watcher

Thanks Doug, I have been looking at PEMpro but think my wife would more than “object” if I use any more money this year on my “second wife”. I need to look for free software, at least until next year. Do you have any experience with PECPrep and Perecorder?

Re: Starsense for Sky-Watcher

Just received a response from Celestron. “ No, it won't use the PEC recorded by the synscan HC, but you can use the PEC from the SS HC .” It seems I’ll have to choose between using the Starsense and using EQMOD. I am very comfortable with the Starsense and I love being able to start my alignment bef...

Starsense for Sky-Watcher

Does anyone know if the Permanent Periodic Error Correction recorded on a Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6 GT can be used by Celestron’s Starsense for Sky-Watcher. As I understand the training PEC data is stored in the motor controller permanently and with the Synscan hand control, a user can start the periodic e...

New member from Norway

Hi, I this is my second year of imaging. Living in western Norway weather is always the biggest problem. I use two telescopes, a Sky-Watcher Black Diamond ED 80 and a Celestron Edge HD8 with a f7 reducer. Imaging with a modified Canon EOS 550D fitted with a Astronomik CLS clip filter. Guiding with a...
