M81/M82, the 190 MakNewt finally gets some sky time!

Postby SteveL » Tue Mar 09, 2010 8:31 am

After sitting in the garage for most of the winter whilst the Borg was getting used all the time, the Skywatcher 190 MakNewt got to point its one near-perfect eye at a dark sky again on Sunday night.

After grabbing the RGB data for the Rosette early in the evening wit the Borg, I quickly swapped over the imaging side of the ADM side-by-side bar to the MakNewt, rebalanced, realigned, focused, and fired up CCD Commander to center up M81/M82.

I have forgotten how nice the images are with the MakNewt :)

Mount: EQ6 via EQMOD
OTA: Skywatcher 190 MakNewt
Guiding: SW ED80 + SX Lodestar + MaximDL
Imaging: Starlight Xpress M25C + MaximDL, 30×300s, Hutech IDAS LPR (101 bias, 101 flats)
Orchestrated: CDD Commander
Stacked: DeepSkyStacker Post Process: PSCS2 + PixInsight

Its not always as busy as this, it is the UK afterall!! 1 in Sept, 2 in Dec, 4 in March....

For images that I think should go into the monthly competion, should I just post the image and details again into that thread?

Hi Steve,

Yes, post any image(s) you wish to run in the monthly contest. If you have a lot of great images this month, you might want to post some in the contest next month. The contest rules state "during the month of the contest or take the photo in the preceding month."

The intent of the "images" forum is for discussion and many people get feedback before they enter their images...either way when you are ready...enter your images in the contest forum.

It's amazing you can actually take images since the recent birth of your new son. Congrats!

Doug
