M83 The Southern Pinwheel

Post by cgome004 » Fri Feb 12, 2016 12:57 pm

This is one of my new favorite galaxies! This target is pretty low on my horizon an I have several trees the only allow it to peek trough for a bit each night. This is 30 300 sec exposures at ISO800 from two combined nights.Enjoy!

He shoots he scores. Never seen this target before and yours is just amazing. Your backgrounds and stars are just perfectly butter smooth without pinching the blacks. I'm just so much more a hardware geek, I wish I had your steady hand in the processing department.

Congrats.

Thanks guys, I had a great streak of weather this week. When that happens I try to make the most of it, so I got lots of data and targets to process! I was really never a galaxy guy but this year I'm really getting into them. I wish I had a galaxy scope with a long focal length to get up close and personal to them. They are so fascinating to me. I gave Doug some footage of how I do my processing of galaxies with PixInsight and photoshop and we should be able to share that with you guys soon

Well done ,nice and smooth image with loads of detail in the galaxy core, when I imaged this target with my 8" F5 Newtonian I used a 2x barlow for a closer peek and it worked reasonably well.
