Stacking Options

Post by Craig » Sun Oct 22, 2017 11:19 am

What other stacking options are there other than DSS ? I’m still getting major banding using DSS on my current laptop and want to keep using it. For some weird reason I don’t see the banding useing my old laptop with DSS.
Any suggestions?

Thanks
Craig

My favorite is Sigma Clip. With dithering, it really works well. Did you dither your frames?

I shot that Williams optics last week with Canon 5D Mark II and stacked it in Pixinsight Batch Proccessing Script. When the image came out I had those bands pretty bad too.

After I opened it I applied the Canon De-Banding Script in Pixinsights script utilities to the image using the default settings and it erased the bands completely.

You might want to give it a try.

Chris Gomez has a video on YouTube called processing M81 and M82 in Pixinsight that shows you how to batch process

I really think that will solve your problem with this and give you the opportunity to do something else with your time.
