Nice 25% discount if you decide to be a beta tester.

In 1916, Einstein published the general theory of relativity, which held that acceleration distorts the shape of time and space. In a nutshell, space and time are curved near a massive object — the fabric of space-time is distorted

Re: New Cmos ATIK

Beta = Free IMO.

That is committing a big chunk of change on an untested product that you probably can't return. 25% is nice, but, that's more like an introductory price, and not a beta price. Perhaps 75% off or free would be more ideal for beta testing.

There's a lot of work that goes into beta testing.

Re: New Cmos ATIK

My thoughts exactly. Why would anyone want to spend money to test their equipment only to find out that it sucks and you cannot get your money back. Pretty poor marketing ATIK

Re: New Cmos ATIK

ATIK does have a reputation for making great cameras...no doubt. Some people are true ATIK fans and wouldn't mind blindly buying a discounted price. I've done beta testing and there is so much work that typically needs to done on schedule for a production release. Beta testing requires more than a few snapshots and you're done. Many hours of writing reports, finding bugs, software, and perhaps even hardware tweaks.

Think about it...you purchased the discounted camera, but, since you PAID for it, why would you want to send accurate reports on time? Damn it, I paid for it, you'd better figure it out for me! On the other hand, if I'm getting paid with a free new camera, then I have an incentive to work for my free camera...

It must be working for ATIK, because they do make great products, but, I wouldn't hop on that "I'll pay you ATIK, if you please let me beta test your equipment!" No, Not me.
