Wiring Diagram for GPUSB

Post by h2opolo » Sat Jan 07, 2017 11:27 am

Hi All,

I asked the question to Rick but he may be busy today and while I have the first clear sky's in a month I want to test.

I'm trying to connect the GPUSB up and I don't see a wiring diagram anywhere. It seems simple enough but let me run this by you.

The Orion Auto Guider has the RJ12 and USB coming from the camera. So do you connect the USB to the laptop from the Auto Guide Camera and then the USB from the GPUSB to the laptop and then take the RJ12 wire and disconnect it from the camera and run it between the GPUSB and the Mount?

Thanks Sean

PS here is the new Mount Doug and I found last week. I posted it on the new rig site but it buried on page 12 hmm? Can't wait to see how it out performs the AVX

I Think you're asking how to connect the Guide cables?

USB goes from Auto guide camera directly to your laptop.
RJ12 goes from Auto Guide camera to Mount's Autoguider port.

Now if you are looking for wiring diagrams for GPUSB, check out Shoestring astronomy. They have lots of diagrams there:

Thanks Doug I didn't see those schematics on their site earlier.

Yes I'm trying to use the GPUSB. It sounds like you just run the RJ12 (ST-4) between the GPUSB Module and the Mount and forego the RJ12 from the camera to the mount.

I'm not sure but I have to be before I apply power to anything

That's It!

Thanks I appreciate it. It's pretty much what I was picturing in my head. Electrically it just didn't make sense to do it any other way.
