My First Rig

Post by h2opolo » Thu Dec 29, 2016 9:18 pm

Here is my 1st rig I have put together in the last month. Just ordered a new NEQ6 Mount (with Doug's help!)

And here is the Battery Power Supply I built today.

Fun Stuff

Looks Great! Show off your new mount when you get it. I was surprised B&H had the NEQ6 for such a killer deal!

Oooh and on your Guide Scope (Finder Scope), you may want to get a cheapy 2.5X Barlow. I have had better success guiding at close to F/11...even when my imaging scope is F/4.8.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... mount.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

its been 1405 for a long time now. which is about 1906 CAD. last year at this time it was 1155 USD. which last year would have been 1463 CAD. i have it written on my parts spreadsheat. not that 1155 price is 1567 CAD :(

Im just using the conversion app on my iphone for the numbers. i can buy the EQ6 at a canadian store for 2079 CAD.

https://www.all-startelescope.com/sales ... cts_id=622" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

to ship that one from BHphoto is 138.81 USD. the one in canada is free shipping.

when i can i think im going to get the az-eq for 2500 CAD

Cant wait should be in the spring. after tax time :)

This is the link I used to get it for 1299.00 I could not find it again without this link. All the others have it for 1400.00. With this link you get the mount and they throw in a free metal water bottle for about 35 bucks for free.

Hey Doug, I sent a reply with a question about the barlow but it went into forum never land so if you get this twice ignore.

I have two orion barlow lenses and a nice two inch barlow which I think would fit if your saying to place it between the guide scope and the guide camera.

I was laughing because since I started hanging around with you guys I have completely replaced all my head end gear. Now I have an AVX mount and 8 inch Newtonian just sitting here. Maybe I could use it to image planets. And I used your link to KEH to buy that canon 5d after I had just bought the nikon d750!!

Oh well! I went out last night and shot a 3 hour timelapse of orion with that nikon and the skytracker pro. That is the coolest tool. I'll post it somewhere so yall can see it.

Thanks

2 inch barlow no dice.

But the 2X 1.25 did fit.

Yes, you'll need a 1.25" barlow.

On my 50mm I never used a barlow and got about the same tracking I get with the ST80 now. I am experimenting with the barlow for the 8RC with a 1600fl but for the 80mm and 127mm scopes I have had no problem tracking with the 50mm guidescope using either the Orion SSAG or the G3.

The only reason I switched from 50mm to the ST80 was the ease in focusing.

I wonder if somebody screwed up at B&H

It will be interesting to see how long that link works. I hope everyone hits it before it goes down. I had my friend click on it and attempt the purchase just to see if it still worked and it did.

Hmmm

PS

I do have a 1.25 mm barlow from Orion as well. It has 2 times the magnification which is what I'm guessing your'e talking about. Good Deal
